About Us
How it Started
David having spent most of his career in the Trenchless Sector saw first-hand an upcoming challenge for the Australian Trenchless sector. He has developed Trenchless Renewals Consulting to assist Authorities, Contractors and Consultants in times where there has been substantial market growth in the Trenchless Sector, with a diminishing resourcing availability due to covid and other world changing events. David is passionate in ensuring Australian businesses can respond effectively to this challenge and has built a company to assist them meeting their company objectives and targets.
David has a wealth of experience in the Trenchless sector, having held senior roles in major organizations specialising in no-dig trenchless technologies. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for developing trenchless business opportunity by educating Authorities to the benefits of selecting an alternative way that is environmentally friendly, provides substantial benefits to the community as well as increases safety, whilst at the same time reduces project duration and cost. Since the late 90’s where David first started his career the Australian Sector grew at an exponential rate seeking companies and products and services that offer such benefits. Infact the Australian Trenchless Sector have often led the way in developing new or improving existing technologies – something many should be proud of achieving throughout their lifespan.
Today the market is well established and many business opportunities utilizing these technologies are released using Tender or Quotation procurement methods, however at times projects present whereby specialist assistance is needed in order to take a project from conceptual to delivery stages. David’s new business can assist you in all aspects associated to Trenchless Rehabilitation and Renewals projects from conceptual stage, through to procurement and subsequent delivery up to Practical Completion.
David’s background is as follows:
- He has a proven track record of overseeing the award and subsequent delivery of trenchless contract works primarily in Australia but also for a short duration in New Zealand.
- David started his career inside Melbourne Water at a time where trenchless technologies were scarce in the country, but Authorities were developing a hunger for innovative and alternative ways. Not only this, by attrition there was an increasing need. Large high flowing pipelines in highly populated locations not only in Melbourne but throughout Australia were beginning to reach their end of life and failures were becoming catastrophic. It is here David developed his passion for this sector.
- After leaving Melbourne Water he first entered the contracting arena working on Melbourne’s City Link project relocating and often protecting existing services (both above and underground) prior to Tunnelling works commencing.
- He then joined Serco as Operations Manager running a workforce of over 100 internal and subcontracted employees to deliver City West Water’s maintenance program on sewer, watermain and pumping station networks.
- Following this David entered into the Trenchless Contracting sector accepting a role where he began promoting and delivering projects suited to isolated spot repairs using the Swiss manufactured KA-TE robotic repair system. David was able to establish a business whereby robots could work internally repairing pipes from existing access chambers, rather than digging up from surface level. These robots also could remove hydraulic impairing obstructions such as stubborn tap roots, intruding connections or concrete and other materials where conventional water pressure cleaning methods were ineffective.
- After leaving KA-TE Australia, David accepted a role with Interflow and began developing the Southern part of Australia’s business across Victoria, Southern NSW, SA and for a short duration in New Zealand. He was able to grow Interflow’s Southern Region business from a team under 10 personnel to in excess of 100 employees with secured works for multiple crews. He was responsible for establishing major long-term relationships with Water Authorities, Local Government Agencies, Irrigation Authorities, Contractors and Consultants.
- After departing Interflow, David joined Comdain with the objective of building up Comdain’s Renewals Division. He had a key role in securing major long term renewal contracts across the Eastern seaboard states. Following Comdain, David joined Killard Infrastructure who acquired the Insituform business in role as General Manager. He was able to successfully improve the existing Insituform business during his short stay with the company.
- David was later offered a role from Rangedale Group to build up and effectively run their Renewals business, which he accepted. Within a 2-year period, he was able to successfully launch Rangedale Group into the Renewals sector, with major works securement including multi-year annual contracts as well as extensively contribute to the build of a team of over 40 employees consisting of Work Crews, Project Managers, Operations Managers and office administrators.
- David’s successes have stemmed from his excellent existing relations throughout Australia’s Water Industry. In all his roles, he has been responsible for ensuring the right infrastructure programs and projects were pursued so that quality outcomes were achieved in line with business plans and strategic objectives. He understands the importance of working safely and the expectation companies place on ensuring all its work force returns home safely at the end of a day’s work, and at the same time the community are protected during the project delivery stage.
- He has successfully led and developed infrastructure partnerships, programs, and contract management practices to achieve value for money outcomes and delivery resilience. David has also had extensive experience leading and driving a culture of high performance to support a diverse, inclusive, and high performing workplace. He has provided education and used sound critical decision-making methodologies across all levels of the organization from Project Management level to General Management Executive Leadership.
